Dr Andrew Atkins
Our team is headed by Dr Andrew Atkins, a well known Melbourne eye surgeon who has practiced in Victoria for 20 years. Originally from Hobart, Tasmania he trained in NSW at the Sydney Eye Hospital. After successfully completing his training as an eye surgeon, he was accepted as a Fellow in the United Kingdom, training with eminent professor Mr Michael Clarke, at the Royal Victorian Infirmary.
Forward
In order to remain at the forefront of the latest developments in diagnosis, treatment and surgery for eye disease, Andrew is committed to attending leading eye conferences around Australia and overseas. He has, and continues to advise companies involved in developing new technology in the industry. He has also lectured widely on various aspects of cataract surgery and ophthalmology in Australia and overseas.

Andrew’s strong sense of community has seen him involved in overseas aid in Tonga, eye care for remote indigenous groups in the Northern Territory and a continued presence in clinics and hospitals in rural Victoria.
The establishment of Victorian Eye Surgeons has enabled him to continue to provide the best eye care possible for his patients. Dr Atkins makes regular donations to various charities including the very important RANZCO Eye Foundation. Their ‘Partners in Sight’ program aims to combat avoidable blindness and raise community awareness of the importance of eye health.
